Man dies week after being hit by SUV when emerging from sewer at Southwest Side gas station

A man died a week after he was struck and critically hurt by an SUV while emerging from a sewer at a Southwest Side gas station.

Mohammed Shehayber, 54, was emerging from the sewer at the BP he owned at 6702 S. Pulaski Rd. about 1:40 p.m. July 16 when a 26-year-old woman behind the wheel of a 2014 Jeep Cherokee had just gotten gas, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

She ran over Shehayber as she pulled away from pump 6, according to a police report obtained by the Sun-Times…
