Mayor Brandon Johnson pitches ‘tax-the-rich’ strategies to reduce city’s $1.2B budget deficit

CHICAGO (WGN) — During his weekly media address on Tuesday, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson reaffirmed he is not planning to propose a tax increase in this year’s budget proposal.

Instead, he says he is looking for other sources of progressive revenue to address the city’s $1.2 billion budget deficit.

“I’m going to go after progressive revenue, that’s what the people of Chicago, working class families in particular, want to see us to do,” Johnson said…
