A 37-year-old Chicago woman was in custody Saturday after Davenport Police say she was involved in quick-change scams in Davenport and throughout the country, Scott County Court documents say.
Chante Stinson faces a felony charge of ongoing criminal activity, according to Scott County Court documents.
Shortly before 7 p.m. May 25, Stinson and a co-defendant were located inside Walmart, 3101 W. Kimberly Road, Davenport, court records show. They “were able to use a quick-change scam on an employee at Walmart. The quick-change scam consists of (the two) approaching a cashier and asking for change. While the cashier begins to remove cash from the drawer the co-defendant begins to ask for more money and ultimately confuses the employee into giving him cash,” affidavits show.
During this incident, the two were able to steal $2,400 from Walmart, according to affidavits, which show Stinson “acted as a lookout and they left the store together following the thefts.”…
