A Chicago man already on a GPS ankle monitor for a pending felony case has been charged with shooting two women in North Lawndale. Nicholas Young, 31, faces two counts of attempted first-degree murder in connection with the June 3 shooting in the 4100 block of West 19th Street.
Prosecutors said the 36- and 49-year-old victims were standing outside their home around 11 p.m. when they heard a man yelling. Moments later, several gunshots were fired and they dove for cover, according to a detention petition. Both women dove for cover before realizing they had been shot: one in the left thigh, the other in the right ankle.
A witness who was nearby told investigators he recognized Young’s voice as the person who yelled before the shooting. Detectives also obtained video images of the alleged shooter, which both victims identified as Young, prosecutors alleged.
