PULLMAN — Redevelopment plans are underway for a historic South Side home that’s sat vacant and in disrepair for two decades, according to the Chicago Housing Authority’s interim CEO.
The announcement comes more than a year after Block Club Chicago reported that the home in the 10500 block of South Corliss Avenue was unused and deteriorating — one of hundreds of CHA homes sitting empty as the city struggles with an affordable housing shortage.
The Corliss property, which is more than 150 years old, is part of the South Side neighborhood’s rich labor history. The area is a city, state and national landmark. The CHA has owned the Corliss row house since 1983…
