Chicago Police Seek Help Identifying Suspects in Austin Neighborhood Burglaries

Residents of the Austin neighborhood are being urged by Area 4 Property Crime Detectives to help identify subjects connected to a recent string of burglaries. The Chicago Police Department has released images and descriptions of the individuals believed to be involved in incidents that occurred on 5300 W Madison St on August 8 at 2:03 A.M. and 5601 W Madison St on August 1 at 3:21 A.M.

The suspects are described as wearing dark clothing and masks, with one individual notably sporting a black hooded sweatshirt with another blue hooded sweatshirt underneath, and red gloves. One suspect uniquely wears black Air Jordan shoes with reflector tongues. Detectives have also released information regarding a vehicle of interest, described as a black SUV, possibly a Honda CR-V, featuring black rims and a blue cloth or towel covering the passenger side rear window.

Officials have issued guidance for residents to aid the investigation. Community members are asked to take note of “any unique physical characteristics of the offender” and to avoid resistance or pursuit in case of a robbery. The police stress the importance of dialing 9-1-1 immediately, advising residents to remain on the scene when possible and not to disturb any potential evidence…
