Parolee sent back to prison after being busted with stolen catalytic converters: records

A man on parole for two gun convictions is heading back to prison for a while after Chicago police allegedly caught him with stolen catalytic converters on the West Side.

Police spotted 22-year-old Mario Lakes running from a stolen Alfa Romeo around 5:03 p.m. on August 20, according to a CPD report. The car, allegedly tied to a string of catalytic converter thefts, was parked in the 300 block of North Hamlin Avenue when officers moved in.

Lakes allegedly tried to pass himself off as two different people, giving the names Cariel Moore and Tahrell Moore with different birth dates, the report said. CPD said those names pulled up records with photographs of men who looked nothing like Lakes…
