Chicago police and city workers on Thursday conducted what Ald. Bill Conway (34th) described as a “large-scale clean up” of Fulton River District viaducts, some of which have long been trouble spots for open-air drug markets.
In an email to residents, Conway said that the operation focused on the Halsted Street viaduct at Kinzie Street, as well as viaducts under Jefferson and Hubbard Streets.
“At both sites, several individuals were apprehended for suspected drug dealing, numerous abandoned tents were removed, and both sites were thoroughly cleaned,” he wrote…
