Man charged with attempted murder for hitting cop while fleeing train burglary

A Chicago man is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, for an incident on the South Side that involved freight train burglary, police shooting, chase and crash earlier this week.

Five Chicago police officers and two suspects were hospitalized Wednesday after an investigation into an Englewood railyard burglary erupted into a police shooting and chase that ended with a crash in Grand Crossing.

Police said they called to the yard around 5 a.m. Wednesday for a report of burglars taking items from freight cards near 58th Street and Shields Avenue.
