Austin and Belmont Cragin Neighborhoods on High Alert After Series of Strong-Arm Robberies in Chicago

Residents and business owners in the Austin and Belmont Cragin neighborhoods are on high alert after a series of strong-arm robberies. According to a business alert issued by the Chicago Police Department, an unknown individual has targeted local businesses, feigning interest in making purchases before assaulting employees and taking money from cash registers.

The incidents occurred on Wednesday, with the first taking place at 5:50 p.m. on the 4700 block of W. North Ave., and the second shortly after, at 6 p.m., on the 4800 block of W. Fullerton. The police are seeking an African American male suspect, believed to be between 20-30 years old, and standing approximately 5’8″-6’0″, weighing around 150 lbs.

Business owners are urged to maintain vigilance, keep their properties well-lit, and report any suspicious behavior to the authorities. Essential security measures, such as prompt repair of any damaged windows, doors, or locks, are also emphasized.
