Residents across Illinois are encouraged to turn off outdoor lights Wednesday and Thursday in order to protect millions of birds as they migrate.
According to Purdue Aeroeco Lab’s website, most of Illinois is at a High Alert level for Wednesday night. Over 100,000 birds are expected over the city of Chicago and 30,000 over Rockford. The website predicts over 23 million birds will fly over the state Wednesday night.
