A South Side man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after murdering another man during an armed robbery last year. Devon Holly, who turned 18 late last month, was already serving juvenile parole for attempted murder when he killed the man.
Holly built a substantial and serious criminal record before reaching maturity, according to officials. In 2021, he was 16 years old when he was found guilty of attempted murder in juvenile court and later released on parole. While on parole, authorities charged him with possession of a stolen automobile, but the allegations were dismissed on January 25, 2024.
Holly, who was still on parole for attempted murder, allegedly lured 18-year-old Davion Borders to an apartment building in the 700 block of East 60th Street on January 31, promising to sell him workout sneakers. Borders greeted Holly’s sister in the foyer, and they took the elevator to the fourth story.
