12 years for robbing off-duty cop at gunpoint in Rogers Park

A Chicago man who robbed an off-duty police officer at gunpoint in Rogers Park last year has been sentenced to a hefty 12 years in prison.

Teon Ticey, 26, pleaded guilty to armed robbery and received the sentence from Judge Diana Kenworthy, according to court records. With good behavior, he will be eligible for release after serving half of the term, in October 2030.

Prosecutors said Ticey and another man targeted the off-duty officer, 28, and a 26-year-old man in the 6400 block of North Lakewood Avenue around 2 a.m. on November 17, 2024. The victims had just left a nearby business when two men confronted them. One of the robbers displayed a semi-automatic AK-47-style pistol and demanded property.

The officer surrendered his wallet and two phones, while the other victim gave up cash, a necklace, and a phone, prosecutors said…
