Clinée Hedspeth has resigned from her position as the commissioner of the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, according to Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson’s office.
The department is responsible for putting on some of Chicago’s most well-known festivals and events, including Taste of Chicago, Chicago Blues Festival, Chicago SummerDance, Chicago Jazz Festival and World Music Festival. It also helps foster relationships with artists and manages public art.
“Mayor Johnson has immediately begun the search for a new commissioner who will work to protect Chicago from the Trump administration’s cuts to cultural grants and institutions,” a spokesperson for Johnson in a statement…
