Tense Standoff Outside Broadview ICE Facility Leads to Multiple Arrests
BROADVIEW, IL – A protest outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Broadview, a Chicago-area suburb, escalated into a tense confrontation late Saturday, resulting in several arrests. Illinois State Troopers were deployed to manage the crowd, which had gathered along the 1930 block of Beach Street, blocking traffic and clashing with authorities.
Demonstrators expressed local opposition to ICE activities in the region. Witnesses described troopers “pushing the line back” in a coordinated effort as law enforcement sought to disperse the crowd and regain control of the area.
According to reports from News Nation national correspondent Mills Hayes, who was on the scene, police officials declared an “unlawful assembly” outside the Broadview ICE facility around 5:30 PM CT. Hayes also reported seeing at least seven individuals arrested, with one protester allegedly throwing a water bottle at police and another a soda can.
Authorities have not yet released an official total for the number of arrests made or any potential injuries sustained during the standoff. Tensions remained high between officers and demonstrators into the night.
