Tourist robbed at gunpoint after getting into phony rideshare in Gold Coast

Two women pretending to be rideshare drivers robbed a tourist at gunpoint in the Gold Coast early Sunday after convincing him they were his ride, according to Chicago police.

The 44-year-old man told officers he was waiting for a rideshare pickup in the 1000 block of North State Street around 1:45 a.m. when a Toyota SUV with two women pulled up and claimed to be his driver. He got into the back seat, and one of the women pulled out a gun and demanded his belongings, police said.

The victim handed over his wallet, watch, and credit cards before the offenders ordered him out of the SUV near LaSalle Drive and Ontario Street. They drove off in an unknown direction…
