The Chicago Police Department announced that Maynor Vasquez Gomez, 26, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the shooting. According to a statement from the Chicago Police, the incident occurred on October 12, 2025, and Gomez was apprehended shortly thereafter in the early hours of the morning on the same day.
Gomez, a resident of the 13200 block of S. Brandon Ave., has seen the swift hand of justice move to hold him to account for his actions. After being taken into custody on the 6400 block of S. Spaulding Ave., he was charged with one felony count of first-degree murder. The police report clarifies that the victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was shot an hour before Gomez’s arrest on the 6400 block of S. Fairfield Ave. (8th District).
