New South Side Wine Bar Struggles After 75th Street Shooting Falsely Linked To Spot

GREATER GRAND CROSSING — When someone fired shots Sunday morning on Greater Grand Crossing’s 75th Street corridor, Jacare Thomas and Charlette Stanton were asleep in their South Side home.

The couple had opened Park Manor 75, a wine and charcuterie bar, days prior at 600 E. 75th St. Their first few days were “super busy” as neighbors and local officials welcomed the new business on the block, Stanton said. The bar closed at 11 p.m. Saturday.

But on Sunday, Thomas and Stanton had to answer dozens of messages from family, friends and community organizations who wanted to make sure they were OK: There had been a shooting overnight, and reports suggested it might have happened at their business, Thomas said…
