Shots fired during theft attempts, robberies, stabbing on CTA reported in NW Side police districts

A man reported that several parked vehicles and his home in the 5100 block of West Warwick Avenue were damaged by gunfire at about 4:55 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1, after he confronted a group of four men trying to break into his work vehicle and one of them fired shots at him, according to 16th (Jefferson Park) District police.

The man reported that he went outside to stop the four men from stealing items from his vehicle when one of them pointed a handgun and fired shots in his direction, according to police.

The man reported that he was not injured but bullets struck the front window of his home and another one of his parked vehicles, police said. A man and a woman also reported that their parked vehicles were struck by bullets, according to police. Officers recovered eight spent shell casings and a live round from the street, police said.
