Chicago has seen a string of armed robberies that have now led to an arrest. According to a Chicago Police Department press release, 51-year-old Miriam Rivera of the 3400 block of W. Montrose Ave. has been charged with multiple felonies, including three counts of armed robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count each of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and unlawful restraint.
The CPD’s announcement specifies that Rivera was apprehended on November 13, after she was identified as the assailant in an armed robbery that took place earlier that same day, robbing a 42-year-old woman at knifepoint. She is also linked to a similar incident on November 5 and another on November 9, where a 50-year-old female was stabbed and restrained during an armed robbery. The incidents all occurred within Chicago’s 17th District, centered around the Montrose Avenue area. A detention hearing has been scheduled for Rivera at a court located at 2600 S. California on November 15, the same day as the CPD’s news release.
