CHICAGO, ILLINOIS – Peaceful protest is supposed to be a protected First Amendment right, but in Illinois, that right appeared to vanish in seconds. A shocking video circulating online shows Illinois State Police and Cook County officers violently arresting peaceful protesters outside the Broadview ICE Detention Center — with scenes so chaotic that many are accusing local law enforcement of “doing ICE’s job.”
The footage, captured by independent journalist BG on the Scene, shows dozens of demonstrators gathered calmly outside the Chicago-area facility. Protesters, many from local church and immigrant-rights groups, chanted and held signs demanding an end to deportations and calling out ICE for “Nazi-level tactics.”
But the moment police intervened, everything turned violent.
