$10K reward for tips about auto thieves who killed man in Bridgeport

Cook County Crime Stoppers is offering a $10,000 reward for information that helps identify the crew responsible for killing a 26-year-old man during a violent auto-theft encounter in Bridgeport last year.

Aric White Jr. died after gunmen opened fire on him and his girlfriend while the couple searched for his stolen SUV around 3 a.m. on May 6, 2024, the organization said Saturday. White’s SUV had been taken minutes earlier, prompting him and his girlfriend to use her car to go look for it.

As they drove through the neighborhood, they came upon a caravan of suspected auto thieves traveling in a red Jeep, a black Dodge Challenger, and a light-colored Chevy SUV, Crime Stoppers said. Someone in that group opened fire, striking White and his girlfriend. She was hit in the arm and survived. White was shot in the head while driving and crashed into a home in the 3100 block of South May Street…
