Second man charged in violent crosstown robbery and kidnapping spree

A second man is now charged with participating in a violent crosstown robbery and kidnapping spree that Chicago police suspect may have committed 28 holdups across the city last month. So far, though, the men are only charged with four of the crimes.

Tmajhae Cole, 18, served as the crew’s driver, dangerously speeding across the city, running red lights and stop signs, and fleeing police, sometimes with a kidnapped victim in the back seat, prosecutors said in a detention filing. Earlier this month, prosecutors charged 21-year-old parolee Marquis Terry with the same spree.

The first attack occurred around 2:09 a.m. on November 19 in the 1700 block of North Keeler. A 38-year-old man was approaching a stop sign when a four-door car cut him off and three men got out of the sedan with guns, including at least one rifle.

The victim later said he could not understand what the attackers were yelling due to a language barrier, but he raised his hands and repeatedly said “no money, no money” as they pulled him from his car and punched him, prosecutors said…
