Parolee who busted tourist’s nose on Loop CTA platform now charged with ‘brutal’ attack and robbery on downtown train

A man who was on parole for breaking a tourist’s nose on a Loop CTA platform joined a group of people to beat and rob another CTA rider in the Loop this summer, prosecutors say.

Nathan Emerson, 28, was recently charged with the August 13 robbery after officers took him into custody for another robbery at a Lakeview gas station this month.

Prosecutors said the August incident unfolded around 7 a.m. at the State and Lake Red Line station. In a detention petition, they wrote that Emerson was one of several people who “brutally attacked and punched” rider Pierre Divoko Nzoko on a CTA train before taking his phone, wallet, and bag. Emerson later admitted he took part in the beating, officials said.

CPD released surveillance images on September 1 of five people wanted in connection with the attack, but no arrests were announced…
