Man, 55, found with gunshot wound during wellness check at West Side apartment building for veterans, police say

CHICAGO — A man was found with a gunshot wound late Saturday night inside an apartment building for veterans in the North Lawndale neighborhood on the city’s West Side.

According to Chicago police, personnel from the Chicago Police Department and Chicago Fire Department responded to a wellness check in the 2900 block of West Roosevelt Road just before 11 p.m. That’s the location of the Rauner Family Veteran Studios.

Upon entry, first responders found a 55-year-old man inside with a gunshot wound to the neck. He was treated on scene and taken to an area hospital in serious condition.
