Chicago Man Arrested after Fleeing from Grundy County Deputies in Stolen Vehicle

Wednesday morning around 3:30 am, Grundy County deputies were made aware of an ISPERN (Illinois State Police Emergency Radio Network) broadcast of a stolen vehicle out of Bloomington, IL, being a white 2015 Ford Explorer. A Grundy County deputy located the vehicle travelling North on I-55 near mile marker 226 and attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit ensued, with the vehicle traveling at over 100 MPH.

Two additional deputies were positioned on I-55 near the 233-mile marker and set up with stop sticks. As the fleeing vehicle passed the 233-mile marker, both sets of stop sticks were successfully deployed, causing the tires on the vehicle to slowly lose air. The vehicle exited at mile marker 236 and went East on Coal City Road and then turned North on River Road. The vehicle continued on Route 53 and then onto Strip Mine Road. A PIT (Pursuit Intervention Technique) was authorized and initiated as the vehicle was driving at a low rate of speed. The PIT was successful and brought the pursuit to an end when the vehicle left the road and entered the ditch.

The driver, later identified as Deondre Logan, was removed from the vehicle and taken into custody. Braidwood Fire/EMS arrived at the scene to evaluate Logan, and he signed a refusal for medical treatment…
