T.J. Maxx opening giant new store in ‘prime’ Chicago shopping area

A huge new T.J. Maxx will soon open in a “prime” shopping area in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood, anchoring part of the center near the Clybourn Corridor in a renovated, 26,000 square foot space, according to an announcement.

The store, at 939 W. North Avenue, at the southeast corner of North and Sheffield, signed a 10-year lease, the announcement said. The building will undergo a “complete modernization” by development team MCZ Development, which includes a new facade, floor-to-ceiling windows and more.

“This lease brings new energy to an already thriving Lincoln Park retail market while solidifying our repositioning strategy. It confirms what we knew all along: our property is a gateway to Lincoln Park’s premier retail corridor,” Farpoint Development Principal Alex Katz said in the announcement.

One of the biggest draws of securing T.J. Maxx as the street-level tenant, the release said, is the building’s indoor, covered parking. The store will be near other busy retailers including Nordstrom Rack, Williams Sonoma, and join the same building as Fitness Formula Clubs…
