Abandoned by accomplices, armed carjacker racks up enough credit to skip prison

A carjacker who was abandoned by his accomplices as Chicago police arrived at the scene of a botched hijacking has been sentenced to six years in prison, but he’s not expected to spend a single day inside an actual prison.

Jashaun Wallace, 22, learned the hard way that the age-old adage “leave no man behind” doesn’t apply to self-centered Chicago’s carjacking crews.

In the early morning hours of August 30, 2022, Chicago police flooded the Gresham neighborhood after a license plate reader detected a freshly-carjacked Ford Edge in the area.
