Chicago police officers shot a man who opened fire on them after he shot a woman in Chatham on Friday night, according to the police department. CWBChicago has learned that the suspect is a six-time convicted felon who has been on parole since being released from prison in September.
Officers initially responded to a 911 call reporting an intoxicated man slashing tires with two knives in the 7900 block of South Ingleside Avenue around 7:46 p.m. As officers were responding, they received an updated call: The armed man had fired shots at a woman and flattened all of her tires.
Police arrived almost immediately after receiving the update and quickly engaged the suspect in a foot chase in the alley. Here’s how the next few moments sounded on the local police radio channel:…
