MOUNT GREENWOOD — A teacher and tutor who recently spent 16 months working with Chicago Catholic Schools, including in Mount Greenwood and Morgan Park, has been charged by two suburban police departments.
Orland Park police arrested Brett Smith, 43, Wednesday, and he was charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse, according to Orland Park police. On Thursday, Evergreen Park police arrested Smith and he was charged with battery, police said.
Smith was fired by the Archdiocese of Chicago last week after 16 months working with Chicago Catholic schools. Smith was most recently working as a substitute teacher at Queen of Martyrs Elementary School in Evergreen Park, according to the archdiocese.
