Afternoon gunfire ripped through Chicago’s West Garfield Park on Friday, leaving a 38-year-old man dead and a 22-year-old in custody after a shooting along South Pulaski Road, according to city officials. Police recovered a weapon at the scene, and Area Four detectives have opened a homicide investigation.

Chicago police said the shooting was reported around 4:44 p.m. in the 700 block of South Pulaski Road. The victim was hit twice in the chest and once in the abdomen before being rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead, according to FOX 32 Chicago.
