CHICAGO — A felony charge has been filed against a man accused of the death of a Plainfield man, months after he was pulled from Lake Michigan.
Chicago boating community mourns ‘Captain Bill’ as police investigate his death as a homicide
Authorities say Alexis Trader has been charged with one count of first-degree murder in connection with the death of 63-year-old Nabil Abzal, who was affectionately known to the Chicago boating community as ‘Captain Bill.’
Abzal’s body was found by members of the Chicago Fire Department around 3 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, in the 200 block of North Lakefront Trail.
While it was determined that Abzal had died from drowning, his death was ruled a homicide.
Months passed without a break in the case, but on Wednesday, authorities took Trader into custody in connection with Abzal’s death.
