MeTV set to broadcast The Wizard of Oz for the first time in 30 years

CHICAGO, Ill. — MeTV has secured the broadcast rights to air MGM’s classic The Wizard of Oz in October.

This will mark the film’s first appearance on free broadcast television since its final CBS telecast on May 9, 1998.

The film will air multiple times in prime time and throughout October as part of MeTV’s Halloween BOO-Nanza, a month-long celebration of classic horror, sci-fi and family-friendly favorite films, including a marquee Saturday night showcase hosted by Svengoolie and The Sven Squad…
