Chicago police say vehicle stolen in deadly carjacking near Wrigley Field used later in deadly shooting on South Side

CHICAGO — Chicago Police Department sources have confirmed to WGN-TV that the vehicle stolen in a deadly carjacking Wednesday morning on the city’s North Side, just several blocks east of Wrigley Field, was used in another homicide about an hour later on the South Side.

According to police, the carjacking happened at about 4 a.m. in Lake View. Police say two men, ages 22 and 38, were inside a parked car in the 700 block of West Waveland Avenue when two unknown males approached. The offenders then demanded the victims’ vehicle at gunpoint and started shooting.

The 22-year-old man was shot in the chest and back and taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police say the 38-year-old man was not injured. The carjackers then got into the stolen car and took off in an unknown direction, according to police.

About an hour later, just before 5 a.m., police say a man was found dead with a gunshot wound to the head in the 3700 block of South Lake Park Avenue, in the Oakland neighborhood. Police have not released the age of that victim…
