Amazon Plans Second Mega-Store in Suburban Chicago

Amazon (Seattle) is moving ahead with a second mega-store in suburban Chicago, the Chicago Tribune reports. News of this latest store, in Oak Brook, comes roughly a month after word got out about the online giant’s first such store, in Orland Park. (Those two towns are about 20 miles apart on Chicago’s west side.)

The Tribune report says the Oak Brook development involves a 225,000-square-foot Amazon store and a two-level, 150,000-square-foot Ashley Furniture store. Those spaces would be built on a 22-acre site currently occupied by seven low-slung office that would be demolished.

If the project gets final approvals from Oak Brook officials, work could begin on the site by the end of this year…
