Three Chicago men are accused of robbing and beating a 56-year-old man who fell asleep on a Red Line train while heading to work in October, leaving him with a fractured eye socket.
Artez Haywood, 20, Davarius Jordan, 19, and Raphael Foreman, 18, each face charges of robbery and aggravated battery in connection with the October 21 attack aboard a train near the Garfield station.
Prosecutors said it all began around 3:46 a.m. when Haywood took items from the sleeping victim’s pockets as the train rolled northbound. The victim woke up and tried to retrieve his belongings, at which point Haywood allegedly struck him in the head. Jordan and Foreman then joined the attack, punching and kicking the victim before taking his wallet and cell phone, according to prosecutors.
