A drunk driver was going 105 mph when he ran a red light on the West Side and slammed into another car, leaving a medical resident with life-threatening injuries, officials said.
Joshua Orozco, 25, is charged with aggravated DUI causing bodily harm in the June 25, 2025, crash at Washington Boulevard and Western Avenue. The victim, a 30-year-old medical resident at Stroger Hospital, suffered a traumatic brain contusion and multiple facial fractures, a Chicago police report said.
Orozco was allegedly driving his 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee westbound on Washington Boulevard when he ran the red light at Western Avenue and slammed into the victim’s southbound Toyota Prius. Data extracted from Orozco’s airbag control module showed he was traveling approximately 105 mph at the time of the crash, according to the CPD report.
The impact spun the Prius around and sent parts of the vehicle flying off. Orozco’s Jeep continued westbound, flipping as it struck two trees, tearing one out of the ground and breaking another in half, according to the report…
