‘I lost everything’: South suburban apartment fire displaces families, injures firefighter

CALUMET PARK, Ill. (WGN) — Crews are continuing to investigate a large apartment fire in the south suburbs that injured a firefighter and left several families displaced early Saturday morning.

Flames shot from the rooftop of a Calumet Park apartment building near West 123rd and South Bishop Streets. Neighbors said they were woken up by a loud boom.

“The sound of a boom woke me up. I came out. Fire was shooting from the building, and the next thing you know, there was smoke everywhere,” Jacqueline Lenor said…
