19-year-old Chicago man arrested in Phoenix, charged in November shooting at Jewel-Osco on South Side, police say

CHICAGO — A 19-year-old Chicago man was arrested in Phoenix, Arizona, over the weekend and charged with attempted first-degree murder for allegedly shooting a man while robbing a Jewel-Osco on the South Side in November.

Chicago police say Elijah Theodore was arrested in Phoenix on Friday, extradited to Chicago and subsequently charged.

According to police, Theodore was identified as the person who shot a 46-year-old man who had intervened in a robbery at Jewel-Osco in the 400 block of East 34th Street, in the Lake Meadows neighborhood, during the late morning hours of Nov. 11.

Witnesses said the 46-year-man was a security guard. He was shot multiple times in the body and taken to an area hospital in serious condition, according to police, and two women were also wounded in the shooting…
