Chicago high school cancels classes after teacher dies

One Chicago High School canceled classes earlier this week after a teacher had a medical emergency during school and later died.  WGN’s Sylvia Snowden reports:

Hansberry Prep High School teacher Michael Patterson collapsed in class on Monday and died shortly after at an area hospital.  A letter home to families from the school’s principal said the school wouldn’t be sharing any more details about what happened out of respect for the privacy of Patterson’s family but said that classes were canceled Tuesday. The letter also said mental professionals were on campus, instead, for students who needed to talk.  A Noble Schools spokesman says the network is “heartbroken” by the loss and that classes resumed Wednesday.

Noble also says it’s also making sure “that students and staff have access to counseling and additional support as needed.”…
