Austin Teen Takes Bullet in 3 a.m. West Side Robbery

A 17-year-old boy was shot in the left thigh during an armed robbery just before 3 a.m. Saturday in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood, police said, turning a quiet stretch of the West Side into an early morning crime scene.

According to police, officers found the teen after a group of five people confronted him on the 5800 block of West Corcoran Place and one person opened fire, hitting him in the leg. He was taken to a hospital and is listed in good condition while detectives investigate.

As reported by WGN-TV, the suspects were described as five unknown individuals. Police told the station that one person “fired a gun in the victim’s direction,” striking him in the left thigh. Chicago Police Department detectives from Area Four are handling the case, and as of the latest update, no arrests had been announced.
