2 waves of storms could bring severe weather threat, near-record warmth to Chicago area

With spring weather comes the return of severe storm threats and the Chicago area will see the potential for two waves of showers and storms Friday – though some uncertainty remains on just how severe they could be.

According to the latest forecasts from the NBC 5 Storm Team, Friday morning looks to start out foggy once again, though a round of showers and storms could move in as early as 7 a.m. across portions of the western suburbs. This system is expected to move toward Chicago between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m.

A dense fog advisory went into effect around 9 p.m. Thursday in Lake and Porter Counties in Northwest Indiana, according to NWS. The advisory will remain in effect until 6 a.m. Friday…
