Man accused of killing driver in South Side hit-and-run crash facing felony charges

CHICAGO — The man who was allegedly behind the wheel of a car involved in a deadly hit-and-run crash on the South Side in mid 2024 is now facing felony charges.

According to police, 24-year-old Dujan Lucas, a Rockford resident, has been charged with one felony count of reckless homicide and one felony count of failure to report an accident causing death.

The charges stem from Lucas’s alleged involvement in a deadly hit-and-run crash that unfolded around 11:58 p.m. on June 20, 2024, in the 8300 block of South Kedzie in the Ashburn neighborhood, just blocks from where the victim lived.
