PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Illinois residents are receiving text messages claiming they have an outstanding parking violation in Cook County.
That is a scam, reports Normal Police Department Public Information Officer Brad Park. It’s one of many scams trying to scare people into quickly clicking a link.
If the link is clicked, it could lead to a virus being downloaded onto your computer or phone. It could also coerce their victims to type out their bank details or credit card information…
