Multiple schools in Illinois to close next week

ILLINOIS — A review of school district calendars across Illinois shows that only a limited number of schools will be closed at any point during the week of April 6 through April 10, 2026, with most districts having already completed their spring break earlier in March.

Among the districts with closures next week:

  • Lake Zurich Community Unit School District 95 lists Monday, April 6 as a district-wide closure with no student attendance following its earlier spring break.

Most other Illinois districts scheduled spring break for March 23–27, 2026, including major systems such as Chicago Public Schools and multiple suburban districts.

  • In those districts, students returned to class prior to April 6 and are in session during the week in question.
  • Some districts also observed Good Friday (April 3) as a no-school day just before that week.

Additionally, a few districts have non-instructional or early release days during that week, but not full closures.

Overall, calendar data indicates that there is no widespread spring break or large-scale school closure across Illinois for April 6–10. The only confirmed closures during that week are isolated single-day or limited district-specific no-school days, rather than full-week breaks…
