More than two dozen Chicago area hospitals earned “A” grades in hospital watchdog group Leapfrog’s latest Hospital Safety Grade report spring 2026, with one earning a “F” grade and others moving up in the rankings.
The biannual safety report, released Wednesday, assigns grades to most general hospitals in the U.S. “based on their ability to protect patients from medical errors, accidents, injuries and infections.” According to the report, thousands of hospitals that participated in Leapfrog’s most recent hospital survey received grades using what the group called 32 “evidence-based measures” of patient safety.
The grades range from “A” to “F,” with a total of 108 hospitals in Illinois receiving a grade. Roseland Community Hospital — a Safety Net hospital in Chicago’s West Roseland neighborhood — received an “F.”…
