Cook County Sheriff’s deputies conducting a court-ordered eviction in East Garfield Park found far more than furniture and clothing inside an apartment where the rent apparently wasn’t getting paid.
Instead, authorities said they uncovered about 4½ pounds of suspected heroin and fentanyl, hundreds of grams of crack cocaine, and enough cash that someone might have covered the rent and avoided the entire ordeal. Now, a man who was inside the apartment faces felony drug charges.
