CINCINNATI (WXIX) – A First Alert Weather Day remains in effect today and Thursday as the Tri-State prepares for another round of strong to severe thunderstorms. While much of Wednesday will be dry, a few isolated storms could develop between roughly 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., mainly northwest of downtown Cincinnati. Any storm that develops during that window could become strong, and that is where the tornado threat will be highest this afternoon.
Most communities will experience a lull this evening before conditions begin to deteriorate overnight. Outside of thunderstorms, winds will increase late Wednesday with gusts over 35 mph possible before midnight. If you have outdoor furniture, trash cans or other loose items outside, now is a good time to secure them.
The main event arrives between midnight and 6 a.m. Thursday as a potent line of storms races northwest to southeast across the Tri-State. Nearly everyone should receive rain and thunderstorms. The primary threats will be damaging wind and flash flooding, with isolated tornadoes also possible. The hail threat appears low.
