MIDDLETOWN, Ohio — A fatal plane crash occurring on Saturday shortly after 3:30 p.m. is under investigation by the Chardon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol in Middlefield Township.
A preliminary investigation found that a Piper Comanche 250 crashed in a field, about a mile east of Geauga County Airport. The Piper aircraft, powered by a single engine, was severely damaged, and all three people on board died.
