CINCINNATI (WXIX) – Business owners in Madeira’s downtown district say a redevelopment project that was originally scheduled to last 18 to 24 months has now entered its third year, and the financial toll on small businesses is mounting.
Jeff Seeley, owner of Piazza Discepoli, a wine and cheese shop in downtown Madeira, said the project was designed to make the district more walkable. He said the prolonged construction has caused a significant decline in foot traffic and sales.
“We’re experiencing a 30% decrease in traffic, a 30% decrease or more in revenue and I know that’s not limited to us,” Seeley said.
